I have not looked in to this but you are welcome to. In theory you could use the newest version but in that case you would need to create an other virtual machine to host an Abtitti server and connect the two because Nspire requires a server connection nowadays to work. The name of the file is Abittikuva.vdi and it is hosted in mediafire.
I think this is probably legal because you just open an version of the software that has no DRM but I don't really know. It uses an old version of the operating system that just gives you Nspire for free when you boot it. This method works by opening Finnish examine operating system called Abitti in a virtual machine.
